In 1789 it was converted into a military hospital to receive the wounded from the army of Italy.

In 1835, Monsignor GALVANO, bishop of Nice, raised its walls and installed the OBLATES of MARY there. The enclosure was enlarged and the church repaired.

This church, such as it is, would date from 1724.

In the 11th century, the Abbey had very large grounds ranging from Paillon to the church of Ste Marie de CIMIEZ and the abbots bore the title of Counts of CIMIES and this, following the donation, in 1004, by Odila MIRON, land she owned on CIMIES hill.

Behind the church, on a steep cut rock overlooking the Paillon, St. PONS suffered martyrdom and pious Christians, on this place of torture, built a chapel.

The church of La Roque in ROCCASPARVIERE, had a relic of St. PONS, martyr of Nice who was celebrated on November 19.
